To open Mail click its icon in the Dock or browse to the Mail application location at
Macintosh HD: Applications: Mail
1. Welcome Screen
If this is the first time you have set up Mail you will be prompted to set up a new Mail account. Do so now by following the screens below. If you have already setup an account in Mail once before and wish to setup a new email account, simply go to
File: Add Account
and follow the same procedure outlined below.
Mail will ask for some details. Where prompted type in your
full name
,
email address
and your
email password
.
2. Incoming Mail Server
Mail will automatically choose POP as the account type. This is correct. Type in the Incoming Mail Server as:
mail.yourdomain.com.au
Your username and password should automatically carry over from the page previous. If any of these details do not, simply retype them in the appropriate fields.
Hit continue and Mail will attempt to verify your settings by logging in. If you are not connected to the Internet you will get an error, but don't worry about it at this stage.
3. Incoming Mail Security
Do not tick the box labelled use "Secure Sockets Layer" as this option is not necessary with POP email. Ensure that "Password" is selected in the "Authentication" drop down box. Click "Continue".
4. Outgoing Mail Server
Enter your outgoing mail server details - all accounts with us should use your internet service providers (ISP) mail server for your outgoing emails eg: mail.bigpond.com.com.au; mail.internode.on.net Authentication is not required so make sure it's unticked. Click "Continue" to proceed.
Please note you may also use your domains mail server: mail.yourdomain.com.au. However it ill require further changes to port settings: 26 as well as authentication settings.

6. Account Summary
You will be presented with a final summary of the details you have entered to confirm they are correct. The following screen shows an example of correct details. Check all your details and if you're happy, click "Create" to finish!

Well done. You have now setup mail succesfully. Ensure that you are connected to the Internet before trying to send or receive emails.
